Hi, I'm Peter Lundqvist, been living most of my life in Hanko (Hangö), Finland.
Ever since I was a kid I've had the genes of art. My grandmother used to paint a lot and created paintings made from small stones. When she passed away, she left a lot of paintings behind her, that today can be found in many homes in Hanko.
For the most of my life, I never made anything with the talent of art my parents always told me I have. I had a short period when I did some drawing, but that didn't last very long. It was too time consuming I guess.
I always loved to take pictures, but never owned the kind of SLR that would have enabled (or maybe inspired?) me to be creativ enough. Therefore, most of the pictures I have are the typical compact camera touristic kind. In late 2008, I finally made a desicion and got the digital SLR I always wanted. The local dealer in Hanko got me a Nikon D300 with a 18-200mm lens. I later added a Sigma 30mm f1.4 to my collection for all low light work. The artist in me was awake .... :)
After trying out many different software for image manipulation, I finally settled for GIMP (
http://www.gimp.org). This totally free open source software is truly amazing, hats off to everyone participating in developing it.
Most of the pictures you see in these galleries are enhanced in one way of another. To me that is making art, I just use the screen and my tablet pen instead of a cloth and a brush.
Hope you enjoy the pictures, feel free to comment on them. I understand now, that learning to take good pictures is a journey that hopefully last an entire lifetime.
